Cabinart made essentially the same cabinet, the HF area looks more like theirs.
I think these were based on designs by Paul Klipsch.
Edit- turns out I was wrong about Klipsch. I think.

I was going to suggest in my earlier post that it's more or less an evolved Jensen Ultraflex.

    Re: Are these Altec cabinets?

Thanks for all the info guys. So for 200$ for the pair should I be trying to go get these? I have room for them but I don’t have the corners for them.
They might look pretty hot with 805b horns on top. Mine came with the factory 1.4” to 1” adaptors, so I could use a large or small format driver on them. I’ve just been looking for the right cabs to use them with.

I was reading in the one thread that was linked above about guys using the QSC waveguide. I wouldn’t use them for this project but it’s an interesting idea for the future.

If I were closer , I would probably grab those cabinets for my new room. I have 4 corners waiting to put something into them, lol! Plus I have a few drivers and woofers I could throw into them, I would just have to make some XO's....

Do they need corners? i.e. they look like horns that go in a corner, not corner horns.

Otherwise, one would first need to know what driver it fits. Looks like a 12" from here, but can't tell.

I don't know a thing about Cabinart, but one would presume a modern-ish boutique cabinet maker is or was putting out a decent product..(?) if so $200 seems like chump change for someone who's looking for a cabinet solution.

Then again, if you're not looking, I've found it best not to tempt one's self. :-)

I'm chopping the horns out of 828 cabinets being repurposed as we speak. I'd gladly pay that instead for a quality implementation of the end result.

I think with wood and labor you would have at least that much involved. Decent deal.
I think they do need corners. If the back of the cab is completely enclosed the may be usable without corners, but since the corner extends the horn, you will lose LF response.

Edit, looked again, I think will work without corners, just better with.

    Re: Are these Altec cabinets?

I?ve been in contact with the seller. He says he has some Altec horns, HF drivers, and crossovers that go with the cabinets. I assume for some extra $$$.

Now I?m really curious what the horns are. Maybe some H808? Looking at the holes I?m not sure what size horn should fit there. He says the woofer openings are 15?.

I?m still not thrilled about driving 7 hours round trip to get these. If someone else closer wants to grab them that?s fine. If they are still there after Xmas I might go take a look.

    Cool.

So IF that's a 15, then you're looking at a substantial piece of furniture there. A7 size or maybe more so in bulk.
Just eyeballing it, the horn space would then take a 511b with room to spare.

...of course we must insist you get actual measurements from the seller before putting the key in the ignition. :-)

After staring at it, I'm really thinking it's not and instead is cut for 12".

    Re: Are these Altec cabinets?

I’m just going by what he said about the woofer size. I asked if it took 12” or 15” woofers and he said 15”. Now I know my van will fit a pair of 828 cabs, and a pair of 817 cabs, but I will definitely ask for measurements before I drive 3.5 hours.

When I got the 828 cabs I was alone and all the seats were down. But man it barely fit the 817 cabs. My family was in the car and boy were they upset when they had to climb over the speakers to get in

A recurring fantasy is to pick up a used 15 passenger or some such. Then just insure it when needed for something.
Better judgement prevails so far, but it's not been ruled out. hah.
